Posted on January 12, 2016
Breaking the traditional boundaries of craft, Stewart Easton’s latest work fuses together hand embroidery, sonic art, music and illustration.
We are delighted to be exhibiting Stewart's latest work, with a special evening view on Thursday January 21st, from 6 - 8.30 pm We'd love you to join us for a drink, please RSVP to info@outline-editions.co.uk
Collaborating with sound artist, Gawain Hewitt, and musician Michael Tanner (Plinth, United Bible Studies), Easton’s stitch work The Next Verse forms a meter square of interactive embroidery that follows the lifecycle of a fictional family. The major plot lines of The Next Verse are hand stitched by Stewart using conductive thread and a soundtrack composed by Michael Tanner is triggered by touch, each person creating their unique soundscape.
His Piety knows no bounds (again another collaboration with Tanner and Hewitt) is a 2.5 meter interactive quilt depicting the life of St Nicholas bringing together illustration, traditional quilting, sonic art and sound.
